Mona Lisa Touch Vaginal Laser Q & A

What is the MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser?

The MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser is a minimally invasive advanced treatment system that uses fractional laser energy to revitalize vaginal tissue. The energy created by MonaLisa Touch gently heats your vaginal tissue and “tricks” it into thinking it’s been injured.

The tissue then increases the production of collagen, the protein in your vaginal tissue that provides strength and elasticity.

Am I a good candidate for MonaLisa Touch?

Dr. Gardner determines if you’re a good candidate for MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser treatment during a consultation. Changes in vaginal tissue can occur at any age and most often affect women going through hormone imbalance, which may occur after you have a baby or in the years leading up to menopause.

Common symptoms that indicate changes in vaginal tissue health include:

  • Vaginal itching or dryness
  • Burning sensation
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Mild incontinence

If you’re experiencing these symptoms, contact Lynnell P. Gardner M.D. & Michael F. Hamant M.D. to schedule an appointment with Dr. Gardner.

What can I expect during MonaLisa Touch laser treatment?

Dr. Gardner performs your MonaLisa Touch laser treatment at the office. The procedure is painless and takes only a few minutes.

During your MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser treatment, Dr. Gardner has you sit on a gynecological table with your knees up. She then gently inserts the laser wand into your vagina and activates the laser energy to get the desired results.

There’s no downtime following your MonaLisa Touch laser treatment, but you may experience some spotting and discomfort following the procedure. These side effects shouldn’t last longer than three days. Dr. Gardner may also suggest some activity modification based on your individual needs.

How many treatments do I need?

Dr. Gardner determines the number of MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser treatments you need during your initial consultation. In general, most women get the most benefits after completing three sessions. Then, annual sessions let you maintain your vaginal health.

You don’t have to suffer through vaginal dryness. To learn more about the benefits of MonaLisa Touch, call Lynnell P. Gardner M.D. & Michael F. Hamant M.D. or book an appointment online today.
